A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain placed on the front of a tooth that resembles the appearance of natural dental enamel. They improve the appearance of discoloured, irregularly shaped or damaged teeth and are custom made for each patient.
- Step 1 – During your first visit, your dentist will prepare your tooth by removing any outer enamel necessary to allow room for the veneer that will be placed on top.
- Step 2 – Once the veneer has been made, your dentist will bond the veneer to your tooth with special adhesive which will firmly hold it in place.
- Step 3 – Multiple visits are sometimes necessary to review the fit and bite of the veneer.
Veneers are durable restorations but they can be damaged if not treated with care. Hard foods should be cut up before eating and avoid opening anything with your teeth.
We recommend you brush and floss to maintain healthy teeth and gums and visit your dentist regularly.
