An informal update from the team – February 2020.

We have been very busy here at Church Street Dental Practice, and Gavin Maw practice.  I am very pleased to be able to talk about our new practice in this blog, as it has been a long time coming. Anita and Jaz are very happy to be expanding the business by adding Gavin Maw practice and their team to our growing work family.

Dr Anita will be working between both practices and all the staff are over the moon to have more team members to work alongside. Please see our ‘meet the team page’ for all our staff at Church Street Dental practice and our Gavin Maw practice will be added in the coming week.

The government has given dentistry the go-ahead to start seeing routine patients again, so both practices have been very busy catching up with the backlog from the first lockdown. We continue to practice strict social distancing measures, which includes no waiting room, longer appointment times, patient checks and more (don’t say it) PPE.  The interest for Invisalign and private treatment has been non-stop and the team are working around the clock to reply to everyone’s messages. Dr Anita and the team are offering evening appointments and due to high demand; Dr Sunny and Dr Anita have opened their diaries for Saturday 27th February for invisalign assesments. If you are interested in any private treatment, remember we offer a FREE CONSULTATION and 0% finance, follow the ‘book an appointment’ link to request a consultation. Dr Chloe has an ever-growing waiting list for Facial Aesthetics, if you are interested please contact us to be added to the list.

Church Street Dental Practice ran an amazing competition in January 2021, giving a lucky winner the chance to win over £5,000 worth of dental treatment, a 21 day nutrition plan from My Elite and a ZO skincare package from Dr Chloe. A winner was chosen at random, but sadly was not eligible for the Invisalign treatment, therefore a second winner was chosen and the prize was split. Thank you to everyone who entered the competition, it was a huge success and we are excited for the next one.

Like all dental practices throughout the country we conduct AGP (aerosol generating procedures) on a daily basis, making us very high risk for contracting COVID-19; therefore the team have had their first round of vaccines. This is a great step for not only our team but for the nation. The team are working very hard and always have a smile on their faces as they know that better days are coming.

I would like to thank all our patients for your continued support and understanding throughout this difficult time. If there is any topic you would like to discuss, or more information on please feel free to contact me at csdpukltd@gmail.com, DM on Instagram @church_street_dental_practice, inbox on facebook @Church Street Dental Practice, or call us on 0191 584 2160.

If you have any questions on queries on any of our treatments, I am more than happy to help, our team love a good chit chat you can approach me about any queries you have.

If you need help the Samaritans are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week on 116123.

Dental Discussions:

An informal update from the team, October 2020.

Well what hasn’t 2020 thrown at us? This year has impacted everyone’s lives while we still try to manage the new ‘normal’. There is a lot to moan and be negative about but this blog update is all about positivity.

What has blown me away from this pandemic is the community spirit of Houghton-Le-Spring; we hear stories daily of families, neighbours and complete strangers helping one another. Whether it is dropping off shopping, taking siblings to school while the others isolate or even just a chat with a neighbour, everyone is helping one another. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the retail workers, medical professionals and our fellow dental colleagues in Houghton who have worked throughout the pandemic helping the community. Our roles have changed and we aren’t just a dental practice but a support system. I would like to say a special thank you to our colleagues Linzi and Amy, who worked non-stop throughout the pandemic. Both of them had long chats with people who were on their own, gave advise where they could get support, and in their own time dropped off supplies, (both dental and non dental) to those who needed it; they really went above and beyond everyday to help people. Thank you ladies!

The new normal …. Patients keep saying to me:

“You must be enjoying being quiet” and I cannot help but laugh, as behind the scenes we are anything but quiet. Slowly but surely we are starting to see some routine patients (dental check ups) but to do this safely it takes a lot of work behind the scenes. Prior to the patient even coming into the clinic everyone is ‘covid screened’ the day before, all appointments are organised meticulously to make sure patients do not cross each other in corridors / waiting rooms, the waiting room is closed, the staff are covid screened daily, everyone’s temperature is taken prior to entering the building, PPE is worn at all times, staff are socially distancing, we have made appointment times longer, we operate a one in one out system, we allow for ‘fallow time’ and clean down after every patient; and that’s not even including an aerosol generating procedure as that’s a whole other process (haha). The staff have tackled the challenges head on and you will see some new faces around the practice, keep an eye on the ‘our team’ page as we will be updating that throughout this month.

I would like to thank all our patients for your continued support and understanding throughout this difficult time. January Blog by Rebecca

Hello from a busy few months at the practice!

If you have been following our Instagram or Facebook then you will have seen we have had such a busy few months with all treatment, but especially Invisalign. So many people started their journey before Christmas and we have had a lot of bookings for initial assessments in January and February; the team are working really hard, staying late and starting early to accommodate everyone.

We have a new team member! Our ‘Amazing Amy’ (not the gone girl version lol), is our new dental nurse trainee and wow what a team member she is! Amy is already working independently with Anita after only 3 weeks (something that took me 6 months to master lol), she has a bright future ahead of her here and we have already said she is never allowed to leave us lol. Check out our ‘meet the team’ posts that I have added to our Facebook and Instagram this week.

Anita is doing amazing, working well being heavily pregnant. We are asking all patients to stick to their appointment times as we only have a few precious weeks of her left before she goes on maternity. We are making sure she has her hot cushion at the ready with plenty of drinks and snacks.

I attended ‘The Grammers’ event in January, if you haven’t already been you must go to the next event they have in March. It’s a great evening, especially for small businesses that benefit from Instagram. I also found a fantastic charity there called ‘Smart Works’ in Newcastle, which I would like to support in the future. This is a local charity supporting local women back into work, through free interview coaching and clothing.

October Blog – “Dental Discussions”

Welcome November!

Hi Everyone, Rebecca here again! We have had a really busy month in October, here is a little insight as to what has been going on …..

Linzi has joined us! We have a new happy face around the practice, Linzi will be our new practice manager. A great asset to the team, Linzi has previously worked with Anita and been a qualified Dental Nurse for nearly 10 years; she is like a breath of fresh air and already settled well into the practice. Linzi is originally from Hartlepool, but first worked with Anita in Peterlee, has worked in Sunderland, Newcastle, Durham and even all the way out to Haltwhistle. We are excited for our future with Linzi on board.

This month, like many other places in Sunderland, the North east and the rest of England; we ‘Wore it Pink’ for breast cancer awareness. Anita made cakes, (Lidl made my cakes lol), there were sweepstakes, we dressed the reception in pink, and we all wore pink tops and joined the fun to raise as much money as possible. All our patients were extremely generous, and our donations have been dropped off to the bank. Right now, more people are surviving breast cancer than ever before. But each year, around 11,500 more lives are lost to the disease; so, we would like to do anything we can to help.

October proved to be a very busy month for Invisalign. More patients started their journey, more came in for consultations and are now awaiting their aligners in November. An Invisalign journey for us isn’t just about ‘straightening teeth’, we work hard here to give our patients the best experience, along with the best result. While in Australia, I had the privilege to work with the top Invisalign provider in Western Australia, then with many fantastic dentists across Sydney and the Gold Coast; therefore, I have seen thousands of different cases. Anita and I are very passionate about Invisalign, we really believe in the product and its amazing results, we will continue to work as hard as possible to create beautiful smiles and most importantly make our patients happy. All of our Invisalign patients receive free teeth whitening, currently we are using Whitewash Professional; Anita is very happy with this product out of all the other teeth whitening products on the market, we have tried and tested many and believe this is the best for our patients.

October brought half term, which was a very busy week for us; Anita recognized the demand and we opened more appointments to accommodate everyone. There was a lot of smiley kids and a lot of stickers given out. Families travelled from Sunderland, Durham, Newcastle and even Hexham to get in and see us; the staff worked hard to make sure everyone was seen and happy. A big topic for us during half term was disclosing tablets. They are a chewable tablet using to make plaque visible. Harmless colored stains on the teeth indicate areas where plaque remains after brushing, providing feedback to improve brushing technique. We sell these in the practice for only £2.

In November the Christmas hype is starting and we really can’t wait! Myself personally, I have had three Christmases away from the family so I cannot wait to have a big family fun filled Christmas. I have family in Sunderland, Seaham, Houghton, Washington and even in Nottingham, so it is a busy time for me!

We have some great Christmas offers on, gift vouchers are available to purchase for any cosmetic treatment, such as: veneers, crowns, Invisalign, anti-wrinkle treatment, dermal filler, teeth whitening and airflow treatment. Another great offer is the teeth whitening and airflow package, which is £250 with a saving of £60, this is a great present for the person who has everything!

That sums up another month, we are excited to see what the lead up to Christmas brings.
