Dynamic wrinkle treatment relaxes the small facial muscles behind frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet, the expression lines that appear when you frown, squint or raise your eyebrows. It’s one of the treatments our team in Houghton-le-Spring is asked about most often at consultation. These lines form naturally as facial muscles move over time. If you’re curious about your options, Church Street Dental Practice offers consultations as part of our range of facial aesthetics treatments, where we’ll talk through what’s realistic for your skin and goals.

At Church Street Dental Practice, we use dynamic wrinkle treatment to treat three main types of wrinkles:
Frown lines are wrinkles which form when you frown, have an upset expression, or raise your eyebrows. They are usually less visible when you have a neutral expression, but left untreated, they can progress into deeper, static wrinkles.
Forehead lines are horizontal wrinkles and creases that run across your forehead. These can be one of the earliest visible signs of ageing and form when your skin loses elasticity and its ability to go back into place.
Crow’s feet are fine wrinkles that come out from the corners of your eyes. They may appear earlier than other signs of ageing because the skin around your eyes is very thin and delicate.
Dynamic wrinkle treatment at Church Street Dental Practice is quick, minimally invasive and usually does not take long to recover from. Dr Chloe Aucott, our facial aesthetician, and the rest of our team are here to make your treatment as stress-free and comfortable as possible.
During your consultation, our facial aesthetics team will talk to you about your treatment goals. We’ll ask questions about your medical history, including any previous wrinkle treatment or fillers you have had, so that we can make sure dynamic wrinkle treatment is right for you. If you choose to proceed, we’ll schedule your wrinkle treatment and give you a prescription for your neuromodulator (a treatment used to temporarily relax the muscles in your face).
At your next appointment, we’ll clean and prepare the area where we’re going to apply the wrinkle treatment. In some cases, we might apply a topical numbing cream before you have the injections.
We’ll inject tiny amounts of a neuromodulator into the muscles in your face which cause crow’s feet, forehead lines or frown lines. This procedure will take between 10 and 30 minutes in total.
Our facial aesthetics team in Houghton-le-Spring will give you detailed advice on aftercare after you’ve had your wrinkle treatment. Our anti-wrinkle treatments involve a minimal recovery time and you should be able to go back to your normal activities almost instantly.
For the first 4 hours, we suggest:
Up to 24 hours after your wrinkle treatment, do not drink alcohol, avoid strenuous exercise and hot places such as saunas, tanning beds or hot tubs. Our facial aesthetics team also recommend avoiding makeup and harsh skin treatments for 12-24 hours, and avoiding professional facials, chemical peels or face massages for up to 2 weeks.
There’s no wrinkle cure, unfortunately. The effects of dynamic wrinkle treatment begin to fade between 3 and 6 months, and the treatment can only reduce wrinkles, not remove them entirely. We advise you to schedule a post-treatment review after your appointment, where we can discuss how things are going, and any concerns you may have.
Serious side effects to crow’s feet, frown line or forehead wrinkle treatments are extremely rare. Some patients experience a slight swelling at the injection site, mild headaches or flu-like symptoms; these typically resolve within a few days, and any discomfort can usually be treated with over the counter medication.
Very rarely, some patients can temporarily experience side effects such as facial muscle weakness, leading to droopy eyelids, facial asymmetry or very dry eyes. These effects usually resolve in a few weeks; however, if you are concerned or these do not improve, please contact us as soon as possible.
While most patients will experience no or minimal side effects from dynamic wrinkle treatments, a tiny minority of patients may experience more serious symptoms. If you are affected by any of the following, seek medical attention as soon as possible:
However, for a huge majority of patients, wrinkle treatments are a safe, cost-effective way of reducing frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles.
Our prices for dynamic wrinkle treatment are as follows:
1 area – £190
2 areas – £230

Typically, dynamic wrinkle treatment lasts between 3 and 6 months, although in some cases this can last for a slightly shorter or longer time.
Dynamic wrinkles are caused by the movement of muscles in your face, for example, when you laugh, smile or frown, whereas static wrinkles are visible most or all of the time regardless of your expression. Types of dynamic wrinkles include forehead lines, crow’s feet or frown lines.
Dynamic wrinkle treatment is an effective way of making dynamic wrinkles look better. To treat static wrinkles, we offer a range of dermal fillers.
As the injections we use for dynamic wrinkle treatment are very small, they do not usually cause lasting pain, and any discomfort usually subsides within a few days. However, if you have sensitive skin or are concerned, let us know; we may be able to provide a topical numbing cream along with your injections.
Dynamic wrinkle treatment is safe for most patients, and many of our patients enjoy great looking results. However, we do not provide this treatment to those under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with active skin infections (until the infection is treated), or with certain muscular disorders. During your consultation, we will also ask if you have any allergies to the active ingredients.
If you are on blood-thinning medication or muscle relaxants, we advise you to be cautious as in some cases, these can cause side effects.
Unfortunately not – the effects of dynamic wrinkle treatment begin to fade between 3 and 6 months of your treatment, and the treatment can only reduce wrinkles, not cure them entirely. However, dynamic wrinkle treatment is an easy and cost-effective way to make wrinkles on your face look better.
While you can get dynamic wrinkle treatment in some UK salons, legally it must be prescribed by a qualified medical professional such as a doctor, nurse or dentist first. Chloe, our facial aesthetician, is registered with the General Dental Council (283933), and carries out your dynamic wrinkle treatment as part of our facial aesthetics team.
